Dr.Devi Prasad Mishra obtained his B.E. in Mining Engineering in 2001 from Orissa School of Mining Engineering, Keonjhar, M. Tech in Mine Planning and Design from IIT (ISM), Dhanbad in 2004 and Ph.D. in Mining Engineering in 2008 from IIT, Kharagpur, India. He is currently working as an Associate Professor in the Department of Mining Engineering at IIT (ISM), Dhanbad, India. His areas of specialization include mine ventilation, sub-surface environmental engineering and mine stowing/backfilling with fly ash. His research interest lies in mine ventilation and environment, spontaneous combustion of coal, mine fire and explosion, mine environmental radioactivity, application of CFD in mine ventilation and environment, methane drainage and CBM, fly ash characterization for utilization in geotechnical applications. He is actively involved in R&D and industry-sponsored projects in the aforementioned areas. He has published more than 70 technical papers in reputed national and international journals and conference proceedings. He has guided three students for the award of Ph.D. For his outstanding research contributions, he has been awarded with MGMI Bronze Medal in 2008,Dr.Rajendra Prasad Memorial Prize from Institution of Engineers (India) in 2009,1stSBI Best Researcher Award for the year 2011-12 by IIT (ISM), Dhanbad. He has also been conferred SukumarRakshit Award by MGMI for the year 2013-14, Hindustan Limited Prize in 2016 by Institution of Engineers (India), MEAI- Smt. BalaTandon Memorial Award for the year 2017-18 by MEAI andCanara Bank Research Publication Award for the years 2015, 2017 and 2018by IIT (ISM), Dhanbad.
